Edgewater Wireless to expand spectrum slicing scope

2026-03-05 16:45 ET - News Release

Mr. Andrew Skafel reports

EDGEWATER WIRELESS EXPANDS SPECTRUM SLICING ROADMAP TO EMERGING DUAL-USE CONNECTIVITY APPLICATIONS

Edgewater Wireless Systems Inc. has launched a focused initiative to extend spectrum slicing into dual-use connectivity applications -- targeting environments where predictable latency, resilience and deterministic performance define success as much as peak throughput.

"Wireless is now the operating backbone for drones, robotics, mobile command and control, and critical infrastructure," said Andrew Skafel, president and chief executive officer of Edgewater Wireless. "These networks must perform under congestion, contention and interference. Spectrum slicing was built for exactly those real-world conditions, and Edgewater is now applying that reliability-first architecture to high-value adjacent markets."

Dual-use expands the addressable market

Industry forecasts highlight strong growth across the dual-use adjacency set. Analysts estimate the overall UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) market at approximately $26.1-billion (U.S.) in 2025, reaching approximately $40.6-billion (U.S.) by 2030, while the drone communications segment grows from approximately $2.46-billion (U.S.) (2024) to approximately $3.67-billion (U.S.) (2029). Mission-critical communications is also projected to reach approximately $34.1-billion (U.S.) by 2030, reflecting the accelerating global shift toward resilient, real-time connectivity.

Edgewater positions this initiative as accretive: It broadens commercial surface area for spectrum slicing and PrismIQ while leveraging the company's existing silicon and IP execution road map.

Built on a reliability-first foundation

Edgewater's spectrum slicing platform moves beyond legacy single-channel contention by enabling intelligent spectrum allocation and concurrent channel utilization within a band -- an architecture aligned with the industry's evolution toward ultrahigh reliability on the road to Wi-Fi8.

"Wireless is entering an era where reliability is the new speed -- and that requirement doesn't stop at the home gateway," said Eric Smith, vice-president of product at Edgewater Wireless. "Customers now demand deterministic performance, lower latency and resilience under contention in all wireless verticals. Spectrum slicing delivers those outcomes and expands our commercial surface area."

Driving momentum toward strategic collaboration

This initiative strengthens the bridge between Edgewater's Wi-Fi8-ready silicon execution road map and future partnerships in adjacent verticals where reliability, resilience and predictable latency create measurable operational value. Edgewater will provide updates as evaluation activities progress and as collaboration structures advance.

About Edgewater Wireless Systems Inc.

Edgewater Wireless delivers unmatched Wi-Fi QoS (quality of service) -- bar none -- by intelligently mitigating congestion, allocating spectrum in real time, and autonomously optimizing channel and link density to keep networks fast, fair and reliable when it matters most. The result is tangible economics for service providers and their customers: reduced churn, improved efficiency and consistently high-performance connectivity in the most demanding, high-density environments.

Redefining Wi-Fi from the silicon up, Edgewater's patented, AI-powered (artificial intelligence) Wi-Fi spectrum slicing platform -- delivered through the PrismIQ product family -- breaks the limits of legacy Wi-Fi by enabling multiple concurrent channels within a single band, so more users get more usable capacity without the typical trade-offs. PrismIQ powers Edgewater's Wi-Fi8-ready solution set, designed for ultrahigh reliability and predictable performance at scale across residential, enterprise and industrial IoT (Internet of Things) deployments -- while delivering 10 times performance and up to 50 per cent lower latency, even for legacy devices.

With 26 granted patents, three AI-related patents pending and a capital-efficient fabless model, Edgewater is transforming the economics of Wi-Fi for service providers, OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) and enterprises -- powering scalable, standards-leading connectivity for the next era of global networks. A Silicon Catalyst portfolio company, Edgewater is building the intelligent wireless foundation for the future of connectivity.

We seek Safe Harbor.
