The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday, Oct. 24, edition that Raymond James analyst Luke Davis continues to rank Whitecap Resources "buy." The Globe's David Leeder writes that Mr. Davis advanced his share target by a loonie to $15. Analysts on average target the shares at $13.58. Mr. Davis says in a note: "Whitecap posted another solid quarter, coming in ahead of our estimates on all fronts with capital efficiencies consistently improving alongside integration of Veren's asset book. The company nudged its 2025 outlook higher and released an updated guide for 2026, featuring a tempered but highly efficient program focused on maximizing free cash to funnel into share buybacks and leverage reduction. Synergy capture is now expected to come in 40-per-cent above initial expectations, though unlikely completely fleshed out and, given continued improvement in all core plays, we see a strong setup for a medium-term trend of positive revisions." The Globe reported on Aug. 27 that Desjardins Securities had hiked Whitecap Resources to "buy" from "hold." The shares could then be had for $10.44. The Globe reported on Oct. 10 that Scotia Capital analyst Kevin Fisk rated Whitecap "sector perform." It was then worth $10.51.
