The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday, Feb. 23, edition that Stifel analyst Cody Kwong has reaffirmed his "buy" recommendation for Whitecap Resources. The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Kwong gave his share target a 50-cent boost to $12.75. Analysts on average target the shares at $13. Mr. Kwong says in a note: "Whitecap reported its 2023 financial results and year-end reserves with little surprise as volumes, funds flow and capital investment overlaid Stifel and consensus estimates. Its 2023 year-end reserves were predictably noisy as Whitecap disposed of more assets than it added during the year, though organic F&A performance was solid. We look forward to what this year holds for Whitecap as it ramps investment in its West Division which has recently yielded stellar Montney results in Kakwa while its 20,000 boe/d Musreau battery is still on pace for completion in Q2. ... We continue to favour companies that are able to prioritize returns to shareholders from a high quality asset base." The Globe reported on Jan. 11 that analysts at National Bank Financial had reaffirmed their "outperform" recommendation for Whitecap. The shares could then be had for $8.85.
