The Globe and Mail reports in its Wednesday, Jan. 10, edition that National Bank Financial analyst Rupert Merer has named 5N Plus a top pick for 2024. The Globe's David Leeder writes that Mr. Merer has reaffirmed his "outperform" call for 5N Plus. Mr. Merer boosted his share target by 50 cents to $5.25, matching the consensus. Mr. Merer says in a note: "Visibility at 5N Plus is improving and the company should provide 2025 guidance early in 2024. We estimate $57-million in EBITDA for 2025E, driven by continued growth in its terrestrial and space solar businesses. Its AZUR business has a two-year backlog, and its CdTe semiconductors should continue to see outsized demand from its growing partnership with First Solar, which aims to grow capacity from 12 GW in 2023E to over 22 GW by 2026E. With this improved visibility and strong growth outlook in the near term and beyond, we remain 'outperform.'" The Globe reported on Jan. 17, 2023, and Aug. 3, 2023, that Mr. Merer rated 5N Plus "outperform." It was then worth $2.90 and $3.70. The Globe reported on Feb. 24, 2023, that Desjardins Securities analyst Frederic Tremblay had reiterated his "buy" call for 5N Plus. The shares could then be had for $2.57.
