The Financial Post reports in its Thursday edition that seated in prime position as Donald Trump was sworn in as U.S. President for the second time last January were a who's who of Silicon Valley elite. A Financial Times dispatch to the Post says that in the year since, tech bosses and their businesses have remained close to the President and his administration. Tesla chief executive officer Elon Musk began Mr. Trump's second term with a booming business empire and huge influence in government -- after having spent more than $250-million (U.S.) helping the President return to office. However, his unpopular tenure as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency, and his subsequent fallout with Mr. Trump in the summer, wiped billions of dollars off Tesla's market capitalization. Mr. Musk is now back in MAGA's fold. He has continued to donate to Republican causes and dined with Mr. Trump at Mar-a-Lago this month. Tesla's shares have recovered too, and Musk associate Jared Isaacman has been installed as the administrator of NASA, for which Mr. Musk's rocket company SpaceX is a major contractor. Meanwhile, Mr. Musk's AI model Grok was contracted by the Pentagon and made available to several other federal agencies.
