The Globe and Mail reports in its Wednesday, May 31, edition that National Bank Financial analyst Cameron Doerksen is sticking with his "underperform" call on Transat AT. The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Doerksen gave his share target a 25-cent boost to $3.25. Analysts on average target the shares at $3.10. Mr. Doerksen thinks the outlook for Transat's summer "continues to improve." Transat posts its second quarter results on June 8. Mr. Doerksen expects a "very strong" summer performance from Transat. Mr. Doerksen says in a note: "Based on our pricing surveys on key routes during peak travel periods, price increases this year are the highest we have seen since we began the surveys in 2015, up year-over-year and also up dramatically from 2019 levels. Additionally, jet fuel prices have eased in recent months which should be a further tailwind for Transat as its current F2023 EBITDA margin target range is based on an assumed jet fuel price of $1.20 per litre versus the current spot price of $0.90 per litre. ... We are increasing our Q3 and Q4 estimates based on the better-than-expected demand and pricing environment as well as an assumed lower fuel price."
