The Globe and Mail reports in its Wednesday, Jan. 17, edition that Scotia Capital analysts have updated their price deck for natural gas, lowering their Henry Hub estimate for the year by about 4 per cent. The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that the Scotia Capital analysts call Topaz Energy one of their "best ideas" for "Canadian natural gas exposure." They continue to rate Topaz Energy "sector outperform." Their share target fell by $2 to $30. Analysts on average target the shares at $27.12. The Scotia Capital analysts say in a note: "Premium royalty income portfolio touching the best upstream plays in Western Canada (Tourmaline Oil's Montney, Clearwater heavy oil, Charlie Lake light oil) and high-quality infrastructure backed by long-term take-or-pay agreements. Upstream exposure to AECO and WCS prices provides a unique way to play the upcoming WCSB pipeline completion/export growth theme. Track record of strong dividend growth, with a low current payout ratio paving the way for further growth. Positioned to capitalize on possible upstream and midstream opportunities as M&A heats up."
