The Globe and Mail reports in its Thursday, Aug. 3, edition that Desjardins Securities analyst Chris MacCulloch has reaffirmed his "buy" recommendation for Topaz Energy. The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. MacCulloch gave his share target a 50-cent boost to $27.50. Analysts on average target the shares at $27.33. Mr. MacCulloch says in a note: "Tough crowd out there! In our view, the stock was unfairly penalized yesterday (Aug. 1), despite posting results which exceeded consensus expectations while providing a modest quarterly dividend bump. Moreover, the market papered over impressive well results in core plays during the quarter, which effectively backfilled production disruptions from the Canadian wildfires. We continue highlighting that Topaz retains elevated exposure to two of the premier plays in North America -- the B.C. Montney and Clearwater -- which is expected to continue driving production growth." The Globe reported on Nov. 3 that iA Capital Markets rated Topaz "buy." It was then worth $23.35. The Globe reported on March 28 that equity analysts at BMO Nesbitt Burns rated Topaz "outperform." The shares could then be had for $18.74.
