The Globe and Mail reports in its Wednesday edition that Stifel's Madison Tapscott believes that Talon Metals' Tamarack project in Minnesota is positioned well to benefit from the United States' growing preference for domestically sourced, high-quality nickel due to geopolitical tensions and a rising emphasis on onshoring strategies that strengthen domestic supply chains. The Globe's David Leeder writes that Ms. Tapscott has reaffirmed her "buy" recommendation for Talon Metals and 50-cent share target. Analysts on average target the shares at 63 cents. Ms. Tapscott says in a note: "In our view, Talon offers asymmetric upside potential underpinned by 1) Talon's strategic partnerships and support from Tesla, the DoD and the DOE set the company apart from its peers, further solidifying the local demand outlook for nickel, 2) we believe there is further value to be unlocked through exploration, culminating in additions to the current resource estimate for the project and 3) the project is in the first quartile of cash costs compared to peers, providing attractive margins that are more resistant to metal price volatility." Ms. Tapscott says Talon's upcoming feasibility study serves as "a substantial derisking milestone."
