The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday edition that TD Bank chief operating officer Taylan Turan is leaving after less than a year overseeing the bank's transformation strategy following its money-laundering scandal. The Globe's Stefanie Marotta writes that Mr. Turan joined TD at the end of last September as the bank unveiled its overhaul strategy aimed at bolstering its growth while addressing penalties and requirements levied by U.S. regulators and law enforcement. He was tasked with streamlining and developing the bank's key operations, and leading a transformation department to drive TD's focus on speed, simplicity and efficiency. Since joining the bank, Mr. Turan helped implement those plans, strengthened its operations, extended its artificial-intelligence leadership and built capabilities to bolster growth, the lender said in a release Thursday. Previously, Mr. Turan was the COO at HSBC Holdings PLC. He was also global head of retail banking and worked for the bank in London and Turkey. He previously worked at Citigroup and Barclays PLC. TD also announced a series of senior leadership changes, effective Friday. Among the changes, Vlad Shpilsky is promoted to lead the global technology and solutions department.
