The Globe and Mail reports in its Thursday, April 13, edition that Credit Suisse analyst Andrew Kuske has elevated his recommendation for TransAlta to "outperform" from "neutral." The Globe's David Leeder writes that Mr. Kuske gave his share target a $2 boost to $17. Analysts on average target the shares at $15.83. Mr. Kuske says in a note: "That upgrade is a function of Alberta power prices, TransAlta's absolute and relative stock market performance that includes negative 1.32 per cent on year-to-date performance and the outlook for near-term power prices in the company's core Alberta market. ... For TransAlta, we continue to view support from the TransAlta Renewables ownership and a better overall appreciation of the 'two TransAltas dynamic.' Ultimately, we continue to believe the 'two TransAltas' will become one entity -- albeit that view does not occur within our forecast period and baseline assumptions." Mr. Kuske has an unchanged "neutral" rating on TransAlta Renewables.
