The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday, Jan. 5, edition that Scotia Capital analyst Maher Yaghi continues to rate Telus "sector outperform." The Globe's David Leeder writes that Mr. Yaghi still targets Telus shares at $27. Analysts on average target the shares at $26.87. Mr. Yaghi says in a note: "2023 was a difficult year for Telus with a guidance reduction due to a significant restructuring initiative. We are expecting FCF to nearly double year-over-year from $1.2-billion to $2.2-billion. The later forecast could have been even higher except for our view that the digital transformation initiative Telus has embarked upon will likely require additional efforts in 2024 to be fully completed thus requiring additional cost realignment disbursement. As a result, we have reduced our 2024 FCF estimate from $2.5-billion to $2.2-billion." The Globe reported on Oct. 20 that CIBC rated Telus "outperformer" when it was worth $22.12. The Globe reported on Oct. 24 and Dec. 15 that Mr. Yaghi continued to rate Telus "sector outperform." It was then worth $22.36 and $24.64. The Globe reported on Oct. 27 that National Bank analyst Adam Shine continued to rate Telus "outperform." The shares could then be had for $22.01.
