Sernova Biotherapeutics Inc.'s former chief financial officer, David Swetlow, has filed a lawsuit against the company in the Supreme Court of British Columbia, claiming that he was improperly fired based on unproven accusations. He says that he had received nothing but positive feedback from his superiors until he was suddenly placed on leave on Feb. 21, 2024, and later dismissed. A subsequent investigation turned up nothing, he claims.
The allegations are contained in a notice of claim that Mr. Swetlow filed at the Vancouver courthouse on Dec. 2, 2025. Mr. Swetlow describes himself as an executive with "extensive biotech industry, and public company experience," which Sernova benefited from during his 4-1/2 years with the company. The lawsuit has several paragraphs describing Sernova's accomplishments while Mr. Swetlow was with the company, with those accomplishments including the establishment of a $50-million cash position and a listing on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
