The Globe and Mail reports in its Thursday, Aug. 24, edition that Wells Fargo analyst Roger Read has elevated his recommendation for Suncor Energy to "overweight" from "equal weight." The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Read's share target soared $10 to $54. Analysts on average target the shares at $50.50. The Globe says Mr. Read believes the new management of Suncor Energy, led by Rich Kruger, has "the vision and strategy to improve execution, returns, CFFO [cash flow from operations] and FCF [free cash flow]." Mr. Read says he hiked his share target based on higher earnings expectations and a revised trading multiple. The Globe reported on March 12, 2022, that Mr. Read rated Suncor Energy "overweight." It was then worth $39.42. The Globe reported on May 30, 2023, that National Bank Financial analyst Travis Wood continued to rate Suncor Energy "outperform." The shares could then be had for $38.80. The Globe reported on July 14, 2023, BMO Capital Markets analyst Randy Ollenberger had downgraded his recommendation for Suncor to "market perform" from "outperform." He said Suncor still had "a lot of work to do to get back into investors' good graces." It was then worth $39.06.
