The Investment Reporter, in its June 16, 2023, issue, says buy Stantec Inc., recently $81.82. The Reporter previously said buy 29 times from July 28, 2000, to Nov. 11, 2022, at prices ranging from $12.60 to $70.22 (the stock split 2:1 in May, 2002, and then split 2:1 again in May, 2006, and then split 2:1 once more in November, 2014). Assuming an investment of $1,000 for each of the 29 buys, the $29,000 position would now be worth $289,233. Stantec is an international engineering company. For the three months ended March 31, 2023, Stantec earned $80.9-million, or 73 cents a share, compared with earnings of $68.4-million, or 61 cents a share, in the same period of 2022. Stantec continues to benefit from favourable trends such as increased spending on clean energy and road infrastructure. The company's back log sat at $6.2-billion at the end of March, up 9.2 per cent from a year ago. Management continues to think the company will hit its guidance of adjusted earnings per share growth of 9 to 13 per cent. The stock trades at 23.3 times this year's forecast earnings of $3.52 a share. The Reporter says the high multiple is arguably justified given the strong growth prospects. The Reporter says buy Stantec.
