The Investment Reporter, in its June 23, 2023, issue, says buy Saputo Inc., recently $31.47. The Reporter said buy 25 times from Sept. 21, 2001, to July 29, 2022, at prices ranging from $22.97 to $55.60 (the stock split 2:1 in November, 2001, in December, 2007, and again in September, 2014). Assuming an investment of $1,000 for each of the 25 buys, the $25,000 position would now be worth $51,264. Saputo is a Montreal-based Canadian dairy company that produces, markets and distributes a wide array of dairy products. The company's share price declined by over 11 per cent after Saputo released its fiscal 2023 results. Saputo said it expects its international business to be hurt by lower cheese and dairy ingredient prices in fiscal 2024. For the year ended March 31, 2023, Saputo had adjusted earnings of $755-million, or $1.80 a share, compared with earnings of $485-million, or $1.17 a share, in fiscal 2022. As a result of excess supply weighing down dairy prices, Saputo's earnings are only expected to inch up to $1.84 a share in fiscal 2024. The stock trades at 17.1 times that estimate. The company's 72-cent-a-share dividend is equal to a yield of 2.3 per cent. The Reporter says buy Saputo.
