Regenx celebrates grand opening of Greeneville plant

2023-10-26 09:35 ET - News Release

Mr. Greg Pendura reports

REGENX CELEBRATES GRAND OPENING, PAVING THE WAY FOR GREEN INNOVATION IN PGM RECOVERY

The official grand opening of Regenx Tech Corp.'s Greeneville, Tenn., facility was held on Oct. 24, 2023. Dignitaries, suppliers, stakeholders, and the investment community were on hand at the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Rick Purdy, president, Regenx USA, conducted a tour of the facility and gave a general overview of the clean-technology approach to the recovery of precious metals (platinum group metals) from end-of-life diesel catalytic converters.

The Regenx team was present to field inquiries from interested parties and excited to participate in an event that showcased Module One while sharing its vision of Regenx's future.

Jeff Taylor, president and chief executive officer of Greene County Partnership, stated: "It is very exciting to welcome such an innovative, green leading technology company to our community where Greene means green. Greene county is a silver-level certified TVA [Tennessee Valley Authority] sustainable community. Partnering with Regenx to bring new STEM [Science, technology, engineering and mathematics] opportunities and cutting-edge green technology to our residents is a tremendous asset to our diverse manufacturing base. We look forward to working alongside the leadership and growing this amazing company."

Cal Doty, Mayor of Greeneville, said: "We are excited to welcome Regenx to our community, having a new green technology developed and implemented here allows us to do our part in securing the environment for our future generations. This technology has impressed me because it either diverts materials from landfills or replaces the emissions from smelters, and I look forward to seeing Regenx continuing to grow."

The plant, in shutdown mode for the event, was operating again on Wednesday as the process of scaling up production continues. The new heating system and a larger gas line was the last lengthy timeline-related item required to allow the company to achieve the 2.5-tonne-per-day output expectation. Recently some pumps were replaced with other varieties as the company saw potential issues with higher mass outputs. This was a relatively short replacement period and the new pumps have already been installed and tested.

Up until now, the company has been running very-low-grade materials to reduce operating expenditures in the scale-up procedures. With the success seen to date, as outlined in the Oct. 16, 2023, news release, the company will now be increasing the feedstock grades while moving toward higher production outputs. The aim is to maintain or increase these recoveries while ensuring the efficiencies remain intact as speeds and mass volume are increased to attain the objective of 2.5 tonnes per day.

Greg Pendura, chief executive officer of Regenx, stated: "I'm continually impressed with the dedication and ingenuity of our team as we keep passing significant milestones. Moving from a concept to commercialization has been a difficult process, but the group has more than met the challenges. The Regenx system needed to solve both a chemical and a process problem to make the system successful. In any commissioning of a new technology, timelines are difficult to anticipate due to various unknowns and adjustments required during the scale-up phases. We have met these challenges head-on and keep successfully resolving them. Our team fabricated a first-of-its-kind system in a remarkably short timeline and is now transitioning the company into full commercial production."
