The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday, Oct. 10, edition that National Bank analyst Maxim Sytchev, in a report titled "Party like it's 1995," noted that industrial companies perform well during periods when rate cuts coincide with positive GDP growth. The Globe's David Leeder write that Mr. Sytchev says, "In 1995, there was no 'crisis' per se when the Fed cut rates and hence no falling cliff when it came to GDP growth; it was in response to slowing inflation (amid a good but cooling labour market) while fiscal policy was neutral." Mr. Sytchev has reaffirmed his "sector perform" call on RB Global. Mr. Sytchev cut his share target back by $2 to $111 (all figures U.S.). Analysts on average target the shares at $118.79. Mr. Sytchev says in a note: "We slightly tweaked our line items below the EBITDA line (amortization, interest expense, share based compensation) to accurately reflect the cadence of the past couple quarters, which lowers our EPS estimate for the upcoming quarter. With shares flat this quarter we do not see a material rise in SBC vs. last year." The Globe reported on Aug. 8 that Mr. Sytchev had reaffirmed his "sector perform" call for RB Global. The shares could then be had for $114.11.
