The Globe and Mail reports in its Tuesday, Feb. 13, edition that Parex Resources is a quality stock with good growth characteristics. The Globe's guest columnist Anthony Menard writes in the Number Cruncher column that Parex Resources has made gradual improvements to its fundamentals, yet its stock price remains stagnant. Mr. Menard calls Parex Resources an overlooked stock which he believes cannot be ignored for long because of its robust fundamentals. The company screens high under Mr. Menard's investing criteria. Parex Resources is an independent oil and gas exploration and production company with a primary focus on operations in Colombia. The election of Gustavo Petro in mid-2022, an anti-oil president, has sparked apprehensions regarding the future of oil exploration in Colombia, thereby exerting downward pressure on Parex's stock price. Parex reported a remarkable 44.5-per-cent earning-per-share growth over the past year, alongside a 7.9-per-cent decline in its stock price, resulting in a modest 3.1 price-to-earnings ratio and a noteworthy 6.8-per-cent dividend yield. The Globe reported on Jan. 18 that Stifel analyst Cody Kwong had reiterated his "buy" call for Parex when it was worth $22.11.
