POET Technologies Inc. (TSX VENTURE: PTK)(OTCQX: POETF) (the "Company") - developer of the planar opto-electronic technology ("POET") platform for monolithic fabrication of integrated circuit devices containing both electronic and optical elements on a single semiconductor wafer - today learned with sadness of the death of its recent board member. The Company, only recently, announced his resignation from the Board of Directors for personal health reasons on February 10, 2015.

The Board of Directors wishes to extend its deepest condolences to Dr. Chowaniec's wife, Claudia, and their family. "Adam had a monumental career in the semiconductor industry, and he was extremely generous with his time and sage advice during the transformation of the Company and the development of the POET technology," said Peter Copetti, Co-Chairman and Interim CEO. Mr. Copetti added, "On behalf of the entire Company and the Directors, I would like to let Claudia and her family know that our thoughts and prayers are with them in their time of great loss. He will be sorely missed".
