One World partner delivers nanobubble units to UCI, UBC

2026-10-29 15:12 ET - News Release

Mr. Doug Fulcher reports

ONE WORLD LITHIUM ANNOUNCES DELIVERY OF NANOBUBBLE EQUIPMENT FROM MOLEAER TO UCI AND UBC FOR R&D TESTING TOWARDS DLCE PILOT PLANT

The delivery of specialized industrial nanobubble generators from One World Lithium Inc. partner Moleaer Inc. to both the University of California, Irvine (UCI), and the University of British Columbia (UBC) has been successfully completed.

The deployment of on-site equipment marks the next chapter in One World Lithium's continuing technological development, expanding upon the successful lab work that yielded two patent-pending applications in June, 2023. Both universities are finalizing their research environments to continue testing the company's proprietary, single-step direct lithium carbonation extraction (DLCE) technology. This collaborative effort actively transitions One World Lithium's proven bench-scale success into a mobile, containerized pilot plant capable of direct lithium carbonate production from natural brines, eliminating traditional costly and environmentally intensive concentration methods.

Collaboration with Moleaer

Moleaer, the global leader in nanobubble technology, custom built the equipment specifically for this initiative. The company will collaborate directly with One World Lithium and the university R&D (research and development) teams to advance the DLCE technology through rigorous laboratory testing and engineering evaluations.

Furthermore, Moleaer will assist One World Lithium and the universities in constructing the first field-test pilot plant. This engineering work will take place at Moleaer's facilities in Los Angeles, Calif., and is scheduled to begin in early 2027 while continuous laboratory testing remains under way.

Primary project goals: advancing toward pilot-scale development

A comprehensive statement of work has been finalized, outlining the key operational phases for UBC and UCI:

  • Phase 1 -- process optimization direct brine extraction: Research will centre on validating and optimizing the DLCE process, which utilizes a carbon dioxide (CO2) nanobubble extraction method to separate lithium from natural brines. The ultimate objective is to transition toward a field-ready pilot system that demonstrates direct lithium carbonate production.
  • Industrial carbonate co-production: In tandem with lithium extraction, the research teams will evaluate the recovery and co-production of additional high-value industrial carbonates from brine, including sodium, calcium, magnesium and potassium. Successful recovery at scale could introduce incremental revenue streams and significantly enhance project economics.
  • Phase 2 -- acid-free lithium clay extraction: Laboratory teams will conduct test work on lithium-bearing clay to formulate an effective lithium slurry. The goal is to validate the DLCE technology's ability to produce lithium carbonate under varied conditions without requiring sulphuric acids, soda ash, sorbents or multiple energy-intensive concentration steps.

Process advantages under evaluation

The DLCE process is engineered as a highly simplified extraction pathway. Unlike conventional evaporation pond operations and standard direct lithium extraction (DLE) technologies, DLCE does not require preconcentration, base concentration or postconcentration stages. While traditional methods yield lithium intermediates that require extensive downstream chemical refining, One World Lithium's objective is to achieve a true, single-step direct production of lithium carbonate.

Carbon utilization and environmental considerations

By adding CO2 gases directly into the separation chemistry, the DLCE approach targets a carbon-negative, emission-free extraction cycle. Pending pilot testing, One World Lithium anticipates that this streamlined process substantially reduces environmental footprints, lowers capital (capex) and operating (opex) costs, and qualifies the process for carbon credit opportunities.
