Nuran Wireless appoints Naidoo as director

2024-02-01 13:47 ET - News Release

Mr. Francis Letourneau reports

NURAN APPOINTS NAVINDRAN NAIDOO TO THE BOARD AND CHAIR OF THE STRATEGIC COMMITTEE

Nuran Wireless Inc. has appointed Navindran Naidoo, former network executive of MTN Group, to the board of directors and as chair of the strategic committee.

Mr. Naidoo has over 25 years of telecommunications experience in the fields of mobile and fixed network planning and optimization, encompassing network facilities development, spectrum planning, transport systems, including IP (Internet protocol) networks and next-generation core and enterprise networks. His responsibilities included the efficient and strategic evolution of networks (RAN (radio access network), transport, core, OSS (operational support system), and energy and infrastructure) to offer the best customer experience to MTN's customers globally. He was also instrumental in advancing the rural network rollout across Africa by introducing alternative vendors such as NuRan and other ORAN (open RAN) suppliers. Mr. Naidoo also represented MTN Group at the Facebook TIP (Telecom Infra Project) initiative and facilitated numerous lab and field testing of open-source equipment and other RAN vendors specifically targeted to Africa.

"The addition of a qualified and highly specialized director such as Mr. Naidoo will be of tremendous value to Nuran and its stakeholders. Mr. Naidoo's experience and connections within the industry and specifically Africa, our target market, will surely help us to advance this company to the next level," stated Francis Letourneau, chief executive officer of Nuran Wireless.

Mr. Naidoo joined MTN in 1997 and has held various senior management positions in group technology as well as being the network executive from 2013 to 2021. He has had previous assignments in Nigeria, Uganda, Cameroon and Swaziland, where he was instrumental in the initial planning, deployment and operation of MTN's mobile networks in these countries.

He holds a master of business administration, a postgraduate diploma in business management, a master of science in engineering and electronics, and a bachelor of science in engineering and electronics from the University of Kwazulu-Natal (formerly the University of Natal) in South Africa.

Nuran would like to thank Kenneth Campbell for his valuable contribution to the board and wishes him continued success.
