The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday, July 7, edition that Credit Suisse analyst Edlain Rodriguez has reiterated his "underperform" call on Nutrien. The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Rodriguez gave his share target a $5 (U.S.) boost to $55 (U.S.). Analysts on average target the shares at $77.30 (U.S.). Mr. Rodriguez says in a note: "Volumes for the June quarter have been subdued as buyers remained skittish and have only purchased what's necessary. Fertilizer prices have declined steadily throughout the quarter and are below managements' indications provided during the 1Q23 earnings calls. Since the end of March, the benchmark Tampa ammonia price is down 35 per cent, NOLA urea is flat, U.S. corn-belt potash price is down 7 per cent, and U.S. Gulf DAP price dropped 25 per cent. This is despite June quarter being the seasonally strongest quarter." The Globe reported on May 17 that BMO Capital Markets analyst Joel Jackson was sticking with his "outperform" recommendation for Nutrien, which could then be had for $61.10 (U.S.). The Globe's Ian McGugan recommended waiting to buy Nutrien at a better price on May 20 when the shares were going for $61.95 (U.S.).
