The Investment Reporter, in its May 25, 2023, issue, refreshes its buy of Nutrien Ltd., recently $81.16. The Reporter said buy Nutrien seven times from April 27, 2018, to March 3, 2023, at prices ranging from $44.56 to $112.57. Assuming a $1,000 investment for each of the seven buys, the $7,000 position would now be worth $7,710. Nutrien produces potash, nitrogen and phosphate. Nutrien is now trading near a multiyear low after having reaching $148 in early 2022. The company reported lower-than-expected earnings in the first quarter as a result of lower selling prices in all areas, and lower sales volumes in retail, potash and phosphate. The company expects fertilizer prices to stabilize and expects increased demand in the second half of 2023 as a result of strong agricultural fundamentals. The company is expected to earn $11.12 a share this year. It trades at just 7.3 times that estimate. Nutrien also pays a quarterly dividend of 71 cents ($2.84 a year), which is equal to a solid yield of 3.5 per cent. The Reporter says buy Nutrien for long-term growth and for income.
