The Financial Post reports in its Wednesday, Feb. 11, edition that a security camera company in Victoriaville, Que., aims to become a trusted supplier of surveillance technology to the Canadian government and NATO members following a new acquisition and funding round. The Post's Yvonne Lau writes that Vosker on Tuesday said it had acquired Defendec Holding (Reconeyez), an Estonian artificial intelligence-powered surveillance camera company, and raised $200-million (U.S.) in senior debt financing led by National Bank of Canada as the sole bookrunner, with participation from Bank of Nova Scotia, Export Development Canada, Toronto-Dominion Bank and Investissement Quebec. Vosker co-founder and chief financial officer Danny Angers says, "We realized that our technology was complementary, our vision of the future was aligned and that we would be able to accelerate our growth of the dual-use market more quickly working together." Mr. Angers says the acquisition will accelerate Vosker's international expansion and ability to sell to large enterprises and government agencies helped by Reconeyez's established ties as a partner and supplier to Estonian and European defence and security organizations.
