The U.S. just started a global trade war. The other tariffs will damage Canada's economy and threaten livelihoods. Mr. Clark says Mr. Trump likes tariffs so much you know he will be brandishing it at Canada again. Mr. Trump's happy leap into global trade chaos is a massive complication for the big step that is now proposed by both Liberal Leader Mark Carney and Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre -- a broad renegotiation of Canada's economic and security relationship with the U.S. immediately after the election. For Canada's politics, in the midst of an election year, Mr. Trump's announcement is a bomb that had a smaller-than-expected blast but lots of fallout.
