Melkior Drills 1535 Metres at the Carscallen Gold Project in Timmins, Ontario
OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Nov. 13, 2013) - Melkior Resources Inc. (TSX VENTURE:MKR) ("Melkior") has completed drilling fifteen holes totalling 1535 metres on the gold-rich, mineralized ZamZam Zone at its wholly owned Carscallen Gold Project located 25 kilometres west of the City of Timmins, Ontario. The objective of the program was to accomplish infill drilling on the ZamZam Zone, which is hosted in structure that crosscuts granite and mafic volcanics. The drilling and assay data gathered will be incorporated with previous drilling to enable a near-surface gold resource calculation. The 15 drill holes tested the ZamZam system over a length of 275 metres and to an approximate vertical depth of 150 metres. An additional 500 meters of drilling will be implemented during the coming winter when ground conditions are more favorable with the objective of extending the ZamZam Zone to the north.

The mineralized ZamZam Zone varies from a single sulphide rich, quartz vein (typically between 1 and 2 metres thick) to wider intersections made up of smaller parallel quartz and pyrite veins (commonly occurring in a fracture system over a dozen metres in width). From past results, higher gold grades exist where the fracture system concentrates into a single vein with higher sulphide content (typically over 10 g/t gold in the veins) in comparison to the wider intersections of smaller veins where grades vary between 1 and 4 g/t gold over the whole intersection. The systematic drilling completed will assess these internal variations within the ZamZam Zone and will help refine the gold grade in the zone itself and surrounding mineralized envelope. This data will be incorporated into the block model Melkior is building to complete a resource calculation for ZamZam Zone and will provide key information concerning the geometry of the deposit, which is open along strike and at depth.

Re-sampling of holes drilled in 2008 was also undertaken. The 2008 core was cut in quarters and the new sample lengths vary between 0.5 and 1 metre. These sample intervals will give better control on the internal gold grades within an individual intersection. Results are pending.

Melkior's Carscallen Gold Project hosts seven vein systems identified at surface and drilled to shallow depths by Melkior. These include the ZamZam and Shenkman systems. Approximately parallel to these systems are the 1010, 1010 North, Jowsey, Mystery and Wire Gold structures. It is believed that these vein systems, which widen at depth, originate from a common and important gold source at depth

Quality control

Approximately 200 samples from the 1535 metres drilled have been selected for assay. Results are pending.

Core processing included descriptive logging and systematic sampling for analysis. The drill core was sawn in half, with one-half delivered to a commercial laboratory and the other half retained for future reference. Assays were submitted to ALS Chemex Laboratories in Timmins, Ontario. The processed samples were submitted to a standard fire assay with AA technique (Au-AA-23) on a 30-gram subsample. Standards and blanks were inserted randomly into the sample shipments as part of the sampling protocol. For samples returning greater than ten g/t gold, follow-up analysis using fire assay with a gravimetric finish is completed. Following receipt of assays, visual analysis of mineralized intercepts is conducted, and additional analysis may be requested to ensure the accurate representation of the mineralized zones.

This press release was prepared by Dr. Eric Hebert, PGeo, of GeoVector Management Inc., qualified person under National Instrument 43-101. Dr. Hebert has supervised the diamond drill program, logged the core, designed the sampling program and reviewed the quality control information.
