The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday edition that the first complainant in the sexual assault trial of Magna International founder Frank Stronach gave testimony Thursday.
The Globe's Tavia Grant writes that the complainant, identified as LS due to a publication ban, testified that the alleged assault began at a Stronach-owned restaurant in Toronto. LS, who worked as a groom at Mr. Stronach's horse stable, went to the bar that night to celebrate her upcoming birthday with two other grooms.
During questioning, LS said that Mr. Stronach approached her with champagne, and her next memory was being on the dance floor with him, where he stuck his fingers in her vagina.
She said they moved to a booth where this continued. "He seemed like an octopus, he seemed to be all over me, and all I recall is I couldn't get away," LS told the court.
LS testified that she next remembers waking up to a mirror on the ceiling, seeing Mr. Stronach on top of her.
The alleged incident is the first evidence presented by Crown prosecutors in Mr. Stronach's trial, which began Thursday before Ontario Superior Court Justice Anne Molloy.
Mr. Stronach, 93, has pleaded not guilty to the dozen charges he faces involving seven complainants.
