The Globe and Mail reports in its Thursday, Oct. 3, edition that Magna International has commenced an internal investigation into founder Frank Stronach's tenure at the company following his arrest on sex-assault charges. The Globe's Eric Reguly and Tavia Grant write that Magna has confirmed that it has engaged two external law firms to conduct a targeted review of historical records dating back to Mr. Stronach's leadership of the auto-parts company. Magna has a history tracing back to the 1950s. Mr. Stronach divested his controlling shares in the company in 2010 and resigned as chairman in 2012. In June, Peel Regional Police charged Mr. Stronach, 92, with 13 sexual assault crimes against 10 women. The charges include rape, sexual assault and forcible confinement in incidents alleged to have occurred between 1977 and 2024 in the Toronto area and York Region. Mr. Stronach has declared his innocence and plans to contest the charges, none of which have been tested in court. On Wednesday, CBC reported that Mr. Stronach is facing additional charges, which The Globe has been unable to independently verify. Magna spokesman Tracy Fuerst says Magna started the review of records in response to the Peel police investigation.
