Magna redefines rear seats for sedans
Sedan Slouch⢠fuses relaxation with cargo-hauling flexibility for highly
competitive segment
AURORA, ON, July 8, 2014 /CNW/ - Magna International Inc.'s Magna Seating operating unit, a leader in
engineering and producing world-class recliners, tracks and complete
seat systems for the automotive industry, has developed an innovative
seating concept called Sedan Slouchâ¢, the first-to-market
rear-passenger sedan seats to offer both seatback recline and fold-flat
functionality.
The inspiration behind Sedan Slouch is to create a flexible, functional
seat that fits with people's busy lives. For example, a vehicle owner
could haul lumber or gardening supplies with the seats folded flat,
then take a trip with passengers riding in the reclined rear seats.Â
Sedan Slouch makes this possible by using Magna Seating's best-in-class
META⢠tracks and an innovative sliding/pivoting seatback latch.
"Consumers demand smarter solutions that fit their lifestyles and
provide a best-in-class cabin experience," said Mike Bisson, President
of Magna Seating. "We have taken aim at meeting these demands with our
Sedan Slouch concept, and we're excited about the market prospects as
we present this new technology to our global customers."
Sedan Slouch is available in both manual and power versions, and it
provides auto makers with the opportunity to upgrade and differentiate
their brands in the highly competitive sedan segment. With
approximately six million vehicles globally in the medium- and
large-sedan segments, there is significant sales potential for Magna's
latest seating innovation.
