The Globe and Mail reports in its Saturday, Feb. 24, edition that Manulife Financial is one of the best dividend-paying stocks on the Toronto Stock Exchange. The Globe's Norman Rothery writes that Manulife is a stock beloved by risk-averse investors. The Globe has placed Manulife in its Dividend All-Stars portfolio. It is one of The Globe's top 20 dividend picks for 2024. Manulife provides insurance and wealth management to individuals and institutions, primarily in Asia, Canada and the United States. The Toronto-based company is the largest stock in the All-Stars portfolio this year based on its market capitalization of $60-billion. Manulife pays a 4.8-per-cent dividend yield and cut its share count by 3.2 per cent over the last four quarters. The Globe reported on May 13, 2023, and Jan. 26, 2024, that BMO Capital analyst Tom MacKinnon rated Manulife "market perform." The shares could then be had for $21.86 and $29.39. The Globe reported on Feb. 7, 2024, that Scotiabank's Meny Grauman had named Manulife his "top pick." It was then worth $30.01. The Globe reported on Feb. 16, 2024, that Mr. MacKinnon had upgraded his recommendation for Manulife to "outperform." The shares could then be had for $33.35.
