KERMODE APPOINTS NEW INDEPENDENT DIRECTOR LAURIE THOMAS
Kermode Resources Ltd. has made a change to the board of directors.
The company appoints Laurie Thomas to serve as a director. Ms. Thomas
will be an independent director who serves as the chair of the audit committee.
Tek Manhas has resigned as chairman of the audit committee.
Ms. Thomas is the chief executive officer of Riverboat Energy Corp.
Riverboat Energy is a private exploration company focused on the natural
resources sector. The company's principal focus is to explore and advance the
Lake Nipigon, Vista and St. Martin projects, which are all located in Canada.
Ms. Thomas is part of the economic advisory team for Kawacatoose Development
Corp. (KDC). KDC is the business development and economic arm of the
Kawacatoose First Nation and has a clear focus on fostering sustainable economic
growth and self-determination within the first nation by providing strategic
guidance, developing partnerships, investment and support for economic
initiatives.
Ms. Thomas has over two decades of strategic and commercial leadership
experience in the energy sector, spanning audit and consulting, risk management,
reporting, disclosure, and mining finance. She worked for Cameco Corp. until 2017 and then moved on to UEX Corp., where she was the vice-president of
corporate communications until August, 2019. She has also held positions at
Standard Uranium Ltd. and Mas Gold before leaving to become the
controller at Prairie Agricultural Machinery Institute in Humboldt, Sask., which she
resigned from in November, 2023.
Ms. Thomas is a past director of F3 Uranium Corp.'s board, where she was also
chair of the audit committee. She joined the F3 Uranium Board in
September, 2023, and resigned in January, 2025. In addition, Ms. Thomas was a
director on the Meadow Lake Tribal Council Industrial Investment (MLTCII)
board, where she was also chair of the audit committee. Ms. Thomas joined MLTCII in
October, 2020, and resigned in June, 2024. Ms. Thomas is a past director of the
Institute of Chartered Professional Accountants of Saskatchewan and past chair of
the audit committee, and she was also a board member for the rules committee.
Ms. Thomas holds a bachelor of commerce with a major in accounting
from the University of Saskatchewan. She obtained a certified management
accountant (CMA) designation in 2008. She is also one of the first graduates of
the Canadian Investor Relations Institute/Ivey Business School Investor Relations Certification Program (CPIR)
and received her fellowship in 2022 from the Canadian Investor Relations Institute.
