The Globe and Mail reports in its Wednesday, April 29, edition that RBC Capital Markets analyst Ryland Conrad, prior to the release of High Liner Foods first quarter results on May 13 knocked his share target by a loonie to $16. The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Conrad continues to rate High Liner "sector perform." Analysts on average target the shares at $16.50. Mr. Conrad says in a note: "In our 2025 initiation 'Strong Hull, Stormy Horizon,' we acknowledged that while High Liner was not immune to industry headwinds, management continues to execute on strategic initiatives (distribution expansion, innovation, logical M&A etc.) to support sales volumes and seafood consumption has runway for growth as consumers prioritize protein. That being said, against the backdrop of still low consumer sentiment, the current operating environment is exceptionally challenging with tariffs and inflationary headwinds putting downward pressure on seafood consumption and/or margins in the near-term. As such, we remain on the sidelines and look for greater visibility on potential catalysts."
