The Globe and Mail reports in its Tuesday edition that IG Wealth Management is handing a multibillion-dollar investment mandate to Goldman Sachs as part of the company's push to bring institutional investor strategies to the mass market.
The Globe's Andrew Willis writes that on Tuesday, IG Wealth is announcing it concluded a search by hiring Goldman Sachs Asset Management to steward a family of five funds branded as the IG Strategic Wealth Portfolios. The portfolios currently hold $23.2-billion in client savings, about 15 per cent of IG Wealth's total assets under management.
IG Wealth head of investment solutions Florence Narine says Goldman won the assignment by showing it could deliver sophisticated global investment strategies in equities, fixed income and alternative assets such as private equity and infrastructure to individual clients at competitive fees.
The IG Strategic Wealth Portfolio includes funds focused on income and growth, along with three balanced fund offerings.
Ms. Narine says, "Goldman proved they could deliver the best of their institutional service to our clients, and their culture fits with ours." She says IG Wealth chose Goldman after a competition between a short list of five asset managers.
