Speaking during an investor update Monday after his first 90 days as CEO, Mr. Tyra outlined how he has spent his time so far. He provided a snapshot of his general priorities for the company. Mr. Tyra's future could be decided in a proxy contest in the weeks ahead. Mr. Tyra has identified an opportunity to take advantage of Gildan's low-cost manufacturing base and expand its sales beyond the United States to select international markets, such as Western Europe. His plans also involve strengthening the company's three primary brands -- Gildan, Comfort Colors and American Apparel -- by emphasizing their high-quality and comfort attributes, rather than just their price and availability. This strategy aims to increase customer awareness and sales. Under his leadership, Mr. Tyra says, Gildan will continue to increase its dividend and buy back shares.
