The Globe and Mail reports in its Tuesday, April 9, edition that RBC Dominion Securities analyst Sabahat Khan assumed coverage on GFL Environmental with an "outperform" ranking. The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Khan likes the company's growth potential. He sees opportunities for mergers and acquisitions. He also notes that GFL Environmental has higher leverage compared with its peers in the industry. Seeing upside potential to GFL's valuation as its discount to peers closes over time, Mr. Khan elevated the shares to $46 from $43 (all figures U.S.). Analysts on average target the shares at $44.16. Mr. Khan says in a note: "Our favorable view of GFL Environmental reflects: 1) the attractive characteristics of the North American Waste industry, where GFL is the fourth largest player; 2) GFL's positioning as a leading consolidator and the company's relatively smaller scale (vs. its three larger peers), which makes M&A a more meaningful growth driver for GFL; 3) our outlook for leverage reduction over our forecast horizon; and, 4) potential upside to GFL's valuation (given its discount to peers) as it executes on the above-noted opportunities."
