The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday, March 8, edition that BMO Capital analyst Etienne Ricard continues to rate First National Financial "market perform." The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Ricard gave his share target a $3 trim to $41. Analysts on average target the shares at $42.33. Mr. Ricard says in a note: "Origination activity is set for a 'slow start' in 2024 considering subdued housing market activity for single-family properties and increased competitive intensity from a couple larger banks. While First National's valuation has normalized near long-term averages, we see limited levers for upward earnings revisions over the short-to-medium-term." The Globe reported on July 29 and Aug. 3 that Scotia Capital analyst Phil Hardie was maintaining his "sector perform" call on First National when its shares could be had for $37.14 and $40.04. The Globe reported on Nov. 2 and Feb. 6 that National Bank analyst Jaeme Gloyn had reaffirmed his "sector perform" call for First National. The shares could then be had for $37.55 and $40.15.
