The Globe and Mail reports in its Thursday edition that CIBC analyst Bryce Adams continues to rate First Quantum Minerals "neutral." The Globe's David Leeder writes that Mr. Adams boosted his share target by a loonie to $15. Analysts on average target the shares at $17.10. Mr. Adams says in a note: "We expect most of our base metals coverage to report softer operational results, and in turn softer financial results for Q1/24. It is early in the year, but most companies will need stronger operational results in Q2/24 to be well positioned against full-year guidance ranges. Copper prices averaged $3.83/lb, close to our estimate of $3.85/lb, and provisional pricing impacts are modest." The Globe reported on Nov. 2 that Mr. Adams was cautious on First Quantum, which he rated "neutral." It was then worth $14.78. The Globe reported on Nov. 30 and Jan. 18 that National Bank's Shane Nagle rated First Quantum "sector perform" when it was worth $11.11 and $12.66. The Globe reported on March 1 that Mr. Nagle rated First Quantum "outperform," when it was worth $12.90. The Globe reported on March 27 that Stifel analyst Cole McGill had resumed coverage on First Quantum with a "hold" recommendation. It was then worth $13.32.
