The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday, March 1, edition that Barclays analyst Ian Rossouw has elevated his recommendation for First Quantum Minerals to "equal weight" from "underweight." The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Rossouw boosted his share target by $2 to $13. Analysts on average target the shares at $16.14. Mr. Rossouw says in a note: "The comprehensive refinancing provides a pathway to complete the S3 expansion and buys more time to continue discussions towards a potential resolution in Panama. With liquidity risks addressed and upside from potential asset sales, we think the risk/reward is now more balanced." The Globe reported on Jan. 17 that BMO had reaffirmed its "outperform" call for First Quantum Minerals. The shares were then worth $13.57. The Globe reported on Jan. 30 that Mr. Rossouw had reaffirmed his "underweight" recommendation for First Quantum when it could be had for $12.80. The Globe reported on Feb. 3 that Jefferies analyst Christopher LaFemina had elevated his recommendation for First Quantum Minerals to "buy" from "hold." The shares could then be had for $12.51.
