Mr. J.F. Labbe reports
ECOLOMONDO BEGINS FINAL COMMISSIONING OF THE ENTIRE RECOVERED CARBON BLACK PROCESSING LINE
With the successful commissioning of Ecolomondo Corp.'s new milling machine, the Hawkesbury TDP facility has begun the final commissioning of the entire recovered carbon black (rCB) processing line.
The new milling machine was recently commissioned with success. The output achieved was 3,000 pounds per hour with a particle size distribution of 97 per cent (D97) below 15 micrometres, which is the threshold required by the Hawkesbury capacity and with quality requirements of Hawkesbury's offtake customers.
With these milestones achieved, the technical teams began the commissioning of the entire rCB processing line, which includes the downstream equipment, in particular the conveying, cooler, pelletizer, dryer and bagging systems. Once milled to the required size, the rCB needs to be pelletized and bagged. Moisture, pellet hardness, dispersion and steel content are all important factors to achieving a quality rCB.
During its initial trials of the entire rCB processing line, results were promising. The entire rCB processing line ran in tandem successfully for approximately two days, resulting in over three metric tons of rCB being successfully processed, a company first. Once the commissioning of the rCB processing line is successfully completed, the company expects to begin final ramp-up of the Hawkesbury facility.
"The successful commissioning of the entire rCB processing line should settle the output limitations and bottlenecks of the Hawkesbury facility," said
Jean-Francois Labbe, interim chief executive officer of the company.
