Ecolomondo boosts Hawkesbury batch payload to 12,000 lb

2023-06-14 11:39 ET - News Release

Mr. Eliot Sorella reports

ECOLOMONDO INCREASES ITS REACTOR PAYLOAD TO 12,000 LBS PER PRODUCTION CYCLE

During the week of June 10, 2023, Ecolomondo Corp. performed a first ever production cycle with a reactor payload of 12,000 pounds per batch, steadily on the path to its optimal target of 15,000 lb per cycle.

The company continues on its aggressive pace to commercial operations at its Hawkesbury TDP (thermal decomposition technology) turnkey facility. Since January, 2023, the Hawkesbury plant increased its reactor payloads from 1,600 lb to 12,000 lb per cycle, and expects to soon achieve the optimal target of 15,000 lb per cycle.

Every test run performed so far allowed the technical teams to identify and take corrective measures that mostly resulted in improved efficiency and larger reactor payloads. The recent production cycle of 12,000 lb was performed with ease and producing excellent quality end-products, and in quantities projected. This increased payload continues to confirm the efficiency and the robust nature of the thermal reactors.

Larger batch volumes have brought to light certain deficiencies in the load and unloading equipment supplied to Ecolomondo by one of its suppliers. Corrective measures are currently under way by both the supplier and Ecolomondo's technical teams to improve efficiency in these areas.

This cycle size of 12,000 lb used 677 end-of-life tires (ELTs) to produce 4,560 lb of carbon black, 18 barrels of oil and 1,380 lb of process gas, including 1,544 lb of steel and 677 lbs of fibre which were produced during the shredding stage of scrap tires.

While management is optimistic, it cautions that further ramp-up testing may bring to light other issues that may require adjustments.
