The Globe and Mail reports in its Tuesday edition that despite inflation and interest rate hikes, analysts at National Bank Financial view metal prices positively, citing strong central bank buying, demand from China and India, a weakening greenback due to high debt levels, and geopolitical uncertainty. The Globe's David Leeder writes that National analysts upgraded their price forecasts for all metals and foreign exchange rates. The analysts updated their long-term prices to reflect ongoing inflationary pressures and anticipated cost increases as mining companies optimize mine planning in a high commodity price environment. National analyst Mohamed Sidibe has reaffirmed his "outperform" call and $6.50 share target (four cents under the consensus) for Denison Mines. Mr. Sidibe says in a note: "Denison's diversified portfolio provides exposure to a pipeline of low-cost greenfield uranium projects in the Athabasca basin, which hosts the world's largest and highest-grade uranium deposits. Notably, the flagship Phoenix ISR project is expected to produce approximately 56 million pounds of uranium over a 10-year mine life at a low AISC based on our estimates, placing it well on the left side of the global cost curve."
