The Globe and Mail reports in its Wednesday, April 10, edition that seeing improving fundamentals, RBC analyst Greg Pardy thinks investors should not expect any surprises from the first quarter financial results for integrated oil, and senior exploration and production companies. The Globe's David Leeder writes that Mr. Pardy says in a note: "First quarter results in energy land follow the recent release of year-end performance which wrapped up in March and should contain little in the way of drama from where we sit. That's a good thing in our minds. Indeed, on balance, first quarter conference calls should be happy experiences for investors in Canada energy given a favorable oil landscape punctuated by progress toward net debt targets for many producers, rising shareholder returns and the approaching debut of the 590,000 bbl/d Trans Mountain pipeline expansion." Mr. Pardy has reaffirmed his "outperform" recommendation for Cenovus Energy, while boosting his share target by $4 to $32. Analysts on average target the shares at $30.57. The Globe reported on Dec. 7, Feb. 16 and March 22 that Desjardins had reaffirmed its "buy" recommendation for Cenovus Energy. The shares could then be had for $21.81, $23.50 and $26.35.
