The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday, Feb. 2, edition that RBC Capital Markets has added Cenovus Energy to its "Global Energy Best Ideas" list for February. The Globe's David Leeder writes that RBC continues to rate Cenovus Energy "outperform," with a $28 share target. Analysts on average target the shares at $29.63. RBC analyst Greg Pardy says in a note: "We are adding Cenovus to the Energy Best Ideas list given the degree to which the stock has underperformed on a relative basis and based upon our candid conversations with Cenovus's president and chief executive officer Jon McKenzie, which reinforced our confidence that the company's operating and financial momentum will improve as 2024 unfolds, opening the door to relative share price appreciation." The Globe reported on Sept. 7 that Scotia Capital analyst Jason Bouvier had elevated his recommendation for Cenovus to "sector outperform" from "sector perform." The shares could then be had for $27.86. The Globe reported on Oct. 13 that National Bank analysts maintained Cenovus at "outperform." It was then worth $28.09. The Globe reported on Jan. 17 that Mr. Bouvier had reaffirmed his "sector outperform" recommendation when the shares could be had for $20.64.
