The Investment Reporter, in its June 2, 2023, issue, refreshes its buy of Cenovus Energy Inc., recently $22.82. The Reporter said buy nine times from Dec. 11, 2009, to May 25, 2023, at prices ranging from $3.74 to $32.17. Assuming an investment of $1,000 for each of the nine buys, the $9,000 position would now be worth $19,191. Cenovus Energy was formed in 2009 when Encana Corp. split into two. Cenovus now pays a dividend of 56 cents a share, up from 42 cents a share. The 56-cent-a-share dividend is equal to a decent yield of 2.5 per cent. In 2020, the company had to scale back its dividend to just six cents a share after oil prices dropped as a result of the COVID pandemic. With improvement in oil prices since then, Cenovus has quickly increased its dividend. The Reporter says buy Cenovus Energy for growth and some income.
