The Globe and Mail reports in its Wednesday, Aug. 6, edition that Desjardins Securities analyst Chris Li is keeping his "buy" recommendation for Canadian Tire intact. The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Li's share target advanced to $195 from $175. Analysts on average target the shares at $180.40. Mr. Li says in a note: "Despite a challenging environment, we expect Q2 results to reflect a resilient consumer as well as Canadian Tire's key competitive advantages (Triangle loyalty, digital, enhanced data analytics, owned brands, product assortment, etc). We believe the solid share price performance and above-average valuation reflect this expectation. While earnings will likely remain volatile in the near term (market conditions and higher SG&A), successful execution of True North should drive attractive earnings growth over the longer term." The Globe reported on July 17 that National Bank Financial rated Canadian Tire "sector perform." It was then worth $265.50. The Globe reported on July 29 that TD Cowen analyst Brian Morrison was keeping his "buy" recommendation for Canadian Tire intact. The shares were then going for $257.
