The Globe and Mail reports in its Thursday, June 26, edition that landlords have not received a "meaningful business plan" from B.C. mall owner Weihong (Ruby) Liu, nor evidence of her experience in managing department stores in former Hudson's Bay spaces, according to the chief executive officer of a major Canadian commercial real estate company. The Globe's Susan Krashinsky Robertson writes that Cadillac Fairview CEO Sal Iacono said in a statement on Wednesday that information on Ms. Liu's plans for the spaces is still lacking, "despite multiple requests." Ms. Liu, the chairman of real estate investment company Central Walk, received court approval Monday for a $6-million deal to acquire the leases of three former Bay stores in malls that she owns. Court records, however, show that her plan to acquire up to 25 additional leases has faced significant opposition from landlords. Last week, the pushback followed meetings between Ms. Liu and landlords earlier this month, in which she was unable to provide details about how she will operate the stores. Canadian Tire's historic purchase of Hudson's Bay intellectual properties is going ahead after Ontario Judge Peter Osborne granted permission for the deal.
