The Investment Reporter, in its June 9, 2023, issue, refreshes its buy of Constellation Software Inc., recently $2,675. The Reporter said to buy Constellation three times before from April 16, 2021, to March 17, 2023, at prices ranging from $1,794, to $2,316. Constellation Software acquires, manages and builds vertical market software businesses. Constellation has deployed about $1.1-billion (U.S.) so far this year through acquisition. Constellation's latest purchase was of Winklevoss Technologies LLC, a defined benefit pension plan valuation and administration software, for about $150-million (U.S.). For the three months ended March 31, 2023, Constellation had adjusted earnings of $273-million (U.S.), or $12.88 (U.S.) a share, compared with earnings of $213-million (U.S.), or $10.03 (U.S.) a share, in the same period of 2022. The company has a proven record of growing through acquisitions. The shares trade for a high 32.2 times this year's forecast earnings of $82.96 a share. The Reporter says for a company that is increasing earnings per share at a rate of higher than 20 per cent a year, that is not necessarily excessive. The Reporter says buy Constellation Software, primarily for growth.
