The Globe and Mail reports in its Tuesday, May 6, edition that Scotia Capital analyst Orest Wowkodaw is sticking with his "sector outperform" call on Capstone Copper. The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Wowkodaw boosted his share target by a loonie to $11. Analysts on average target the shares at $11.39. Mr. Wowkodaw says in a note: "Capstone Copper released in-line Q1/25 results and reconfirmed all 2025 guidance. Most important, the ramp-up of the new Chilean Cu sulphide assets continues to progress well. As expected, the potential sanctioning window for the proposed Santo Domingo (SD) Cu-Fe project in Chile has been pushed back to at least mid-2026. Although the quarter was simply in-line, we are encouraged by the positive progress of the Chilean ramp-ups and welcome an extra six to 12 months of balance sheet deleveraging before starting a SD build. We rate Capstone Copper shares 'sector outperform' based on peer-leading Cu growth and leverage, an attractive valuation and takeover optionality." The Globe reported on Oct. 3 and Jan. 7 that Mr. Wowkodaw continued to rate Capstone Copper "sector outperform." The shares could then be had for $10.91 and $8.99.
