The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday, July 7, edition that RBC analyst Sam Crittenden warns falling base metals prices will be a significant headwind to second quarter financial results for North American producers. The Globe's David Leeder writes that Mr. Crittenden has reaffirmed his "outperform" recommendation for Capstone Copper. The RBC stockpicker continues to target the shares at $8. Analysts on average target the shares at $7.88. Mr. Crittenden expects strong growth from Capstone in 2024. Mr. Crittenden says in a note, "Capstone may have another soft quarter similar to Q1 as Mantos Blancos remains in ramp up mode, and construction continues at Mantoverde, which could put pressure on full year guidance." The Globe reported on May 25, 2022, and March 15, 2023, that Scotia Capital rated Capstone "sector outperform" when it could be had for $4.81 and $6.11. The Globe reported on May 20, 2023, that Stifel analyst Alex Terentiew rated Capstone "buy." In the item he said, "We view Capstone as one of our preferred names within the sector." The shares could then be had for $5.76.
